The president of Braxton Technologies, a software engineering and design firm, will donate $50,000 to support student scholarships for engineering students at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Kevin O’Neil, president, Braxton Technologies, a Colorado Springs-based manufacturer of software used in satellite and weapons controls, pledged to support ten $5,000 scholarships for qualified engineering students beginning in fall 2009. The scholarships are for Colorado Springs- area high school graduates. |

In The News : Braxton on Team Awarded NASA Communications Networks Contract

Braxton Technologies today announced it is part of the ITT team that has been awarded a $1.26 billion maximum value contract by the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) to provide operations support for their space and ground communications networks. The period of performance for the initial contract is five years and three months, with two one-year option periods. |

CONTRACT RELEASE : C08-061 NASA Selects ITT [with teammate Braxton Technologies LLC] for Space Communications Network Services [SCNS]. The contract, with an estimated maximum value of $1.26 billion, will support NASA's Space and Near Earth Networks, which provide most of the communications for a wide range of NASA's science-based Earth-orbiting spacecraft, including the International Space Station, the space shuttle, the Hubble Space Telescope and the Earth Observing System satellites. |

Outreach : Kids-Day at Raytheon

Braxton participated in the Kids-Day event at the Raytheon facility in Aurora, Colorado, in the Kit Carson room of building S79 on Thursday the 24th of April. The roomers of the Braxton RoboSat Command and Control Experience has become a requested addition to their annual event. Children ages 6 and above were able to successfully command the remote controlled model of the GPS IIF satellite using the actual software currently being supported on live GPS program. Each child followed the steps within a structured command plan to control the mock satellite using Braxton Technologies LLC. Command and Control application AceCP (Ace Control Point) which was connected to a true satellite simulation control application which was also developed by Braxton. Simulated despin, solar array deploy, antenna deploy and Sun Earth Acquisition Sequence maneuvers were simulated to demonstrate physical properties of the real GPS satellites.

Outreach : Dakota Ridge Civil Air Patrol

Dakota Ridge Civil Air Patrol presentation of the “Science of Space Satellite Operations” on April 14th 2008 at the Water Stone Church on C470 and Bowles in Littleton, Colorado. The youth from the Civil Air Patrol unit were presented with a brief overview of the life of a satellite operator. Each group executed a real command plan from Ace Control Point (AceCP) and controlled a robotic model of the GPS IIF satellite. The command plan was designed to demonstrate a despin, solar array deploy, antenna deploy and Sun Earth Acquisition Sequence maneuver. Each of the youth were presented with a certificate of completion as they participated in the event.

30 Braxton employees and family members supported that Air Force Association (AFA) Lance P Sijan awards ceremony held to honor military members and civilian volunteers whose contributions to the Air Force are extraordinary. Braxton’s Debbie Estrem received a local certificate of appreciation and recognition for her upcoming national award in a category which there are only 10 awards issued across the country.

The U.S. Air Force successfully launched the latest GPS satellite at 2:09 am EDT on March 15, 2008. This launch utilized the GPS LADO command and control system to ensure a picture-perfect launch and early-orbit operations. Braxton’s ACE Premier™ suite provides the framework for the GPS LADO system, which is expected to perform two more GPS satellite launches this year. |

The latest GPS satellite was launched on December 20 of last year and set to healthy on January 2, setting a new record for transition from Launch to operations. Braxton Technologies’ ACE Premier is the framework for the new Launch/Early Orbit, Anomaly Resolution, Disposal, and Operations (LADO) System. The Air Force Space Command's 2nd Space Operations Squadron (2 SOPS) and its reserve associate unit 19 SOPS based at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, with the launch and early orbit operations for GPS IIR-18M (SVN 57) conducted the on-orbit deployment and checkout of all spacecraft systems in just over three days. Upon completion of navigation payload initialization, the satellite was declared operational on January 2 for both civil and military users. |

The Launch/Early Orbit, Anomaly Resolution, and Disposal Operations (LADO) system experts from Braxton Technologies were called in to contact the satellite and regain control, and subsequently turn the wayward IIF satellite back over to the AEP control segment.
